🌏 The Golden Triangle – Where Three Countries Meet

English
One of the most iconic landmarks in Northern Thailand is the Golden Triangle, where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet. From our office in Chiang Saen, it’s only a 20-minute drive — making it an easy and unforgettable stop for our guests.

The viewpoint offers a breathtaking panorama of the Mekong River, where you can see three countries at once. The area is also rich in history, once known as the center of the opium trade. Today, it’s home to the fascinating Hall of Opium Museum, temples, and vibrant local culture.

For our guests, visiting the Golden Triangle is always a highlight — not just for the view, but for the feeling of standing at a crossroads of cultures and histories.

  1. This is a great summary! The Golden Triangle is so much more than a geographical point. Its history is incredibly complex, rooted in the opium trade, which was once so lucrative it earned the name “golden” for a reason. While that era is mostly in the past, the region’s unique cultural tapestry remains, with influences from Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar blending to create a distinctive atmosphere. Today, the focus has shifted to tourism, with boat rides on the Mekong River offering stunning views and the opportunity to visit the small island of Don Sao in Laos. The road infrastructure has significantly improved, making the area easily accessible from Chiang Rai. It’s a place where you can learn about the past at the Hall of Opium Museum and then explore the vibrant local markets for delicious northern Thai and Laotian food. 🇹🇭🇱🇦🇲🇲 #GoldenTriangle #Thailand #Travel #History
