Die meisten Menschen arbeiten in einem Büro.
Mit Schreibtischen, Besprechungsräumen und festen Arbeitszeiten.
Mein Büro sieht etwas anders aus.
Es hat keine Wände.
Es erstreckt sich von den geschäftigen Straßen Bangkoks bis zu den ruhigen Dörfern des Isaan, von den Bergen im Norden bis zu den Küsten des Golfs von Thailand.
Mein Büro ist die Straße.
Und Thailand ist mein Klassenzimmer.
Jede Reise lehrt etwas Neues
Als ich MoriTour Thailand gegründet habe, dachte ich, meine Aufgabe sei einfach.
Gäste sicher ans Ziel bringen.
Ihnen die schönsten Orte zeigen.
Dafür sorgen, dass sie ihren Urlaub genießen.
Doch mit der Zeit wurde mir klar, dass jede Reise weit mehr ist als nur ein Transport von A nach B.
Jede Reise ist eine Gelegenheit zu lernen.
Nicht nur für meine Gäste.
Auch für mich.
Egal wie oft ich dieselbe Strecke fahre – es gibt immer etwas Neues zu entdecken.
Eine neue Geschichte.

Die besten Lehrer stehen nicht vor einer Tafel
Viele der wertvollsten Lektionen meines Lebens habe ich nicht aus Büchern gelernt.
Sondern von Menschen.
Von einem alten Mönch in einem kleinen Tempel auf dem Land.
Von einem Bauern, dessen Familie seit Generationen dieselben Felder bewirtschaftet.
Von einer Marktfrau, die mit Stolz die Spezialitäten ihrer Region erklärt.
Oder von Gästen, die Thailand zum ersten Mal erleben und die Welt mit frischen Augen betrachten.
Diese Begegnungen erinnern mich daran, dass Lernen überall stattfinden kann.
Man muss nur offen dafür sein.

Wer viel unterwegs ist, lernt schnell, dass nicht immer alles nach Plan läuft.

Straßen werden gesperrt.
Ein ungeplanter Zwischenstopp entwickelt sich plötzlich zum Höhepunkt des Tages.

Oft werde ich gefragt, welches mein Lieblingsort in Thailand ist.
Die Wahrheit ist:

มีโต๊ะทำงาน ห้องประชุม และเวลาทำงานที่แน่นอน

มันไม่มีผนัง
ไม่มีเพดาน
และไม่มีที่อยู่ตายตัว
สำนักงานของผมทอดยาวจากกรุงเทพฯ ไปจนถึงหมู่บ้านเล็ก ๆ ในอีสาน จากภูเขาทางภาคเหนือไปจนถึงชายฝั่งทะเลของประเทศไทย
สำนักงานของผมคือ “ถนน”
และประเทศไทยคือ “ห้องเรียน”
ทุกการเดินทางสอนอะไรบางอย่างเสมอ
ตอนที่ผมเริ่มต้น MoriTour Thailand ผมคิดว่างานของผมค่อนข้างตรงไปตรงมา
พาลูกค้าเดินทางอย่างปลอดภัย
พาไปยังสถานที่สวยงาม
และทำให้พวกเขามีความสุขกับวันหยุด
แต่เมื่อเวลาผ่านไป ผมค้นพบว่าทุกการเดินทางมีคุณค่ามากกว่านั้น

ครูที่ดีที่สุดไม่ได้อยู่หน้ากระดาน
บทเรียนที่สำคัญที่สุดในชีวิตหลายครั้งไม่ได้มาจากหนังสือ
แต่มาจากผู้คน
จากพระสงฆ์สูงวัยในวัดเล็ก ๆ กลางชนบท
จากชาวนาที่เล่าเรื่องผืนดินที่ครอบครัวดูแลมาหลายชั่วอายุคน
จากแม่ค้าตลาดที่ภูมิใจนำเสนออาหารพื้นบ้านของตนเอง
หรือจากนักท่องเที่ยวที่กำลังสัมผัสประเทศไทยเป็นครั้งแรก
ผู้คนเหล่านี้คือครูของผม
และประเทศไทยคือห้องเรียนที่ไม่มีวันสิ้นสุด
ประเทศไทยเป็นมากกว่าจุดหมายปลายทาง
นักท่องเที่ยวหลายคนมาถึงประเทศไทยพร้อมภาพจำบางอย่าง
ชายหาดสวยงาม
วัดทองอร่าม
อาหารริมทาง
และต้นมะพร้าว
แต่ประเทศไทยมีอะไรมากกว่านั้น
แต่ละจังหวัดมีเอกลักษณ์ของตัวเอง
แต่ละภูมิภาคมีวัฒนธรรมของตัวเอง
แต่ละหมู่บ้านมีเรื่องราวของตัวเอง
ยิ่งผมเดินทางมากเท่าไร ผมยิ่งตระหนักว่ามีสิ่งให้เรียนรู้อีกมากมาย
ถนนสอนให้รู้จักความอดทน
บนท้องถนน ไม่มีอะไรเป็นไปตามแผนเสมอไป
ฝนอาจตก
ถนนอาจปิด
หรือจุดแวะพักเล็ก ๆ ที่ไม่ได้อยู่ในกำหนดการ อาจกลายเป็นไฮไลต์ของทั้งวัน
ประเทศไทยสอนผมว่าบางครั้งช่วงเวลาที่ดีที่สุดเกิดขึ้นเมื่อเรายอมเปิดใจรับสิ่งที่ไม่คาดคิด
ความอดทนจึงไม่ใช่แค่ทักษะในการเดินทาง
แต่เป็นบทเรียนชีวิต
